Downtown and the Loop

If you’re here for a tour of classic Chicago landmarks, Millenium Park and Navy Pier are not to be missed. Designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry, the Pritzker Pavilion hosts live outdoor music events throughout the summer. You’ll find plenty of family fun at Navy Pier, like the iconic 200-foot tall Centennial Ferris Wheel.

Historic City Sights

Historic and innovative architecture is everywhere to be seen in Chicago neighborhoods, making our city a real destination for architecture buffs. Try these to get started:

  • Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio: Tour the interior of Wright’s first home, and see up-close how he used this space to experiment with concepts that contain the seeds of his architectural philosophy.
  • Chicago Architecture Center Tours: Find a tour for any taste, like Chicago icons, historic skyscrapers, modern architecture, elevated architecture, and more.

Naturally Appealing

For a healthy dose of nature just north of the heart of the city, our favorite spot is the Chicago Botanic Garden, where you can take in a fascinating array of native and exotic plants. Visit the rose garden, dwarf conifer garden, aquatic garden, native prairie garden,  and dozens more. You won’t want to pass on these other natural havens either:

  • Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum: Find interactive learning experiences for adults and children on topics including birds and wildlife, arboriculture, horticulture, and conversation.
  • The Field Museum: If you have a budding scientist in your family, make sure you make time for the Field Museum. Check out their dynamic exhibits on dinosaurs, ancient artifacts, cultural insights, and groundbreaking science!
